(Not so) Orange lips!

Hi lovelies,

So today I'm talking to you about that classic, unavoidable trend, the bright orange lip. Everywhere I look right now, YouTube, twitter, blogger I'm seeing how to wear the "perfect bright orange lip" which sounds so awesome but what if you don't suit orange?!

Enter, Carlyn. When it comes to orange I have the unsuitable skin hat-trick: pale, incredibly cool toned and oily (being that the perfect orange lip "must be" accompanied with a dewy foundation, oily is not the ideal type!)

So over the years, I've managed to figure out the best orange lip products for those who don't suit orange! And now I can be down with the cool cats. Or something like that...

Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in Coral Reef
Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Rendezvous
Me Me Me Boho Balm Cheek & Lip Tint
YSL Glossystain in #6
Mac in Sounds Like Noise
Illamasqua in Blaze
Mac in So Chaud (not pronounced "so shod" FYI...)

Swatches:

So for those who think they don't suit it or don't want to go bright, Revlon's Coral Reef, YSL #6 (which is more orange that it's picking up) and Me Me Me Boho Balm are perfect. They give a small flush of orange and work really well on paler skin tones. Also these Revlon lip glosses are so balmy and non-sticky, they're my favourite!

For those who want to go brighter but not neon, the Revlon Rendezvous will be right up your alley. I'm not a huge fan of it because of the shimmer, but it's a really easy way to wear a brighter shade. Also, these balm stains are light and moisturizing on the lips!

Lastly, for those who like me want to rock a bright orange but feel too cool-toned/pale, I've found three we can definitely pull off. Macs Sounds Like Noise* is slightly lighter but still packs a punch and So Chaud leans more red so is definitely more forgiving. Lastly, Illamasquas Blaze seems to run a little "dirty" (darker but not red), which sounds odd but basically it's a bright orange with the edge taken off.

So there you have it, the lipstick club for orange misfits, come join me and we can be trendy together!

Do you have a favourite orange? (No clockworks please...) Do you fancy trying any of these out? Let me know below!

*Mac Sounds Like Noise was limited edition but this was to show a paler but still bright orange if anyone knows any dupes please let me know!
