Good Reads Tag! (Retro Post)

Hello lovelies!

Ever since I spotted this post on the lovely Chloe's blog (found here) I've been excited to do this tag! I love reading and I love Good Reads, I have the app on my phone and I'm addicted to updating my progress when I'm reading and trying to meet my 2014 reading challenge!

On to the questions!

What was the last book you marked as read?

The Lewis Man (Lewis Trilogy book 2) - Peter May

What are you currently reading?

Oh now there's a question. I currently have six books on the go;

The Chess Men - Peter May (desperate to finish the trilogy!)

American Psycho - Bret Easton Ellis (I can't read this all in one go, I'm struggling through it as it's very dry and graphic)

A Game of Thrones (A song of Ice and Fire) - George R. R. Martin (felt like I should...)

Hallucinations - Oliver Sachs (a little psychology of course)

The Happiness Trap - Russ Harris (a little ACT and mindfulness!)

The DIY Wedding Manual - Lisa Sodeau (well...)

What was the last book you marked as to-read?

I have never actually used this feature! So I've decided to do it for the first time today. I've always wanted to try and read some Shakespeare so Romeo and Juliet has been marked to-read!

What do you plan to read next?

Well, I have 60+ books on my shelf and in my kindle to read but to narrow it down to the immediate future...
The One - Kiera Cass
Fight Club - Chuck Palahniuk
Divergent - Veronica Roth

Do you use the star rating system?

Yes, but it's a total pet peeve of mine that it's a 5 star rating system. There is a massive difference between an OK book (3 star) and a perfect book (5 star) I often find it really hard to rate books. For example, if it was a 10 star, a 9/10 would be worth more than a 4/5 without being perfect. Dear god, I could go on about this topic for a full post so what was I saying? Yes, I do use it!

Are you doing a 2014 reading challenge?

Yes. I originally had it set at 12 as I've only recently got back in my reading self (and it's hard to fit in reading when I'm at uni!) but I soon upped that to 30. I'm now at 28/30 so as soon as I hit 30 I'm going to up it to 52. I love a good challenge, especially when I'm competing against myself!

Do you have a wish list?

No, I really just use Good Reads/Amazon to find good books and leave them open in the internet tabs on my iPad until I can buy them!

What book do you plan to buy next?

I will probably buy a vegetarian or another vegan cookbook as I bought a vegan one but want to buy a veggie one for when I can eat diary and so I'm not just eating crap. I really want Peas and Thank you, Isa Does it and Veganomicon. I also want Wheat Belly as I've heard loads of people talking about it. I'm also working my way through some classic popular books so I've got The Fellowship of The Ring, Casino Royale, 1984, Atonement, Trainspotting, The Lovely Bones, The Bell Jar (for the kindle) and Never Let Me Go open in tabs on my IPad. Lastly, Bad Science on my list as the next science book!

Who are your favourite authors?

J K Rowling, Jeffrey Deaver, Slyvia Plath, Peter May, Matthew Quick, Stieg Larsson, Sophie Kinsella, Stephen Chbosky to name but a few!

Have you joined any groups?

Not yet, I thought you had to be invited, time for some research!

I think I might do this tag every couple of months, be interesting to see how things change!

I tag anyone who wants to do this post and I have to you good read?

  1. I just happened upon your blog, and I thought I'd let you know that I agree with you wholeheartedly on the need for a 10 star rating system.
Anyway, I hope you won't mind my stealing this tag to do on my own blog.
    - Taryn :]

    1. Thank you! :) and of course you're more than welcome, it's not mine anyways :) thanks for your comment!
