Wee Book Review: Vicious *spoiler free*

Hello lovelies!

Today I have a wee book review for you!

Today's choice is Vicious by V.E. Schwab (also writes as Victoria Schwab)

Not to name drop or anything but this awesome author has favourited some of the many tweets I've wrote about this book and others...*dusts off shoulder*

Don't judge a book by it's cover...
There's nothing wrong with this cover, it's suitable and appropriate for the content but because this book is GLORIOUS I really wish the cover reflected the amazingness more. Like something really mysterious, like plain black with big red lettering. In addition, as I read the book I realised there was a small (kind of) spoiler printed on the back that I had read prior to the book which annoyed me. So avoid reading to the review comments on the back if you can (unless it doesn't bother you!)
A little bit about it...
This is really hard to do without a spoiler but I'm going to give it a go. This is about two young like-minded men who become close in university (or college in the states where this book is set) then something massive and crazy happens and the book follows their relationship since this event, jumping back and forth in time (from when this event happens, to present day) from the point of view of our main protagonist (Victor). It also follows his new relationships as he makes them and asks some big philosophical questions about right and wrong and who's right it is to decide which is which.
What I disliked...

NOTHING. Literally, I have sat since I read this weeks ago and tried to come up with SOMETHING I disliked and I have only came up with two insignificant things: 1) the cover does not reflect the magic that is inside (and that damn small spoiler!!) and 2) the medical information is possibly incorrect but I'm not 100% and I can't explain further without spoilers!

What I liked...
If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram this will not be news how much I adore this book. It was DELICIOUS as in I ate it up like something deliciously tasty. The writing style just drew me in to this world and despite the complicated timeline it was so easy to read. The story line was unique and not easy to predict (although not completely unpredictable). It also left me constantly thinking about the philosophical implications of this story line and the philosophy of life in general. In all honestly I'm still reeling and I love it! I fell in love with our main protagonist even though I should hate him which I just think shows the quality of the writing. I could go on and on but I have covered the main points and I have to stop somewhere!
If you might like this!
Graphic novels! This book was really unique in my opinion so it was really hard to come up with an existing book like this, but I think it would be a great one to try if you read a lot of graphic novels and you would like to branch out into reading novels with similar ideas, plots and story lines. Also, just as a side note V. E. Schwab has just released a new novel called "A darker shade of magic" which sounds all kinds of awesome and is currently waiting on my shelf to be read (you can pick it up here!)

On Goodreads I awarded this...

A 5 out of 5 stars! While previously I have discussed how much I despise the Goodreads star rating system because it is nowhere near sensitive enough, this is a completely accurate rating, wouldn't even equal a 9 out of 10, it would definately be a 10 out of 10 for me!

Vicious by V.E. Schwab is currently £5.59 (slightly cheaper on kindle) on Amazon
