Top 5 Wednesday: Summer Reads

Hello lovelies,

It's time for Top 5 Wednesday, as created by the awesome GingerReadsLainey and now moderated by the lovely ThoughtsonTomes over on Goodreads!

I've been planning to jump in on this weekly tag for what seems like forever, but I have finally got a new regular schedule and routine and low and behold this week's topic is a good 'un!

This weeks topic is...Summer Reads!

When I first saw this topic I interpreted it slightly differently, so instead of quintessential summer reads, I've gone for the top 5 books I'd like to read this summer, however in all honestly I mainly chose these to read because they had some major summer vibes going on so I think it's totally fine!

My choices for this week (in no particular order) are;

1. The Unexpected Everything//Morgan Matson

This only came out at the start of May, however after reading Amy and Roger's Epic Detour last month, I'm all about that Matson fever.
In true Matson style, this sounds like the right mix of serious, reality and fun.
Plus seriously, doesn't this cover just screams summer?

2. Summer Days and Summer Nights//Edited by Stephanie Perkins

Does this pick have enough summer for you?? Some of the best writers have come together to give us some (hopefully) fantastic summer love stories and I'm so here for that!
I also love that it includes writers like Lev Grossman too.
Plus I seriously need some more short story collections in MY collection.
This one is due out on 2nd June!

3. The Haters//Jesse Andrews

Another relatively new release, but for a change I actually already have my hands on this one.
I really enjoyed Me, Earl and the Dying Girl, I loved what he did with the "romanticized tragedy" thing that was going on back then, so I'm really excited to see what he does with something else. Plus, band camp? A road trip? I AM SO IN.

4. The Wrath & the Dawn//Renee Ahdieh

Another one I actually own. I actually bought this on e-book for going on holiday and then ended up sticking to audiobooks pretty much the whole time which sucks because look how beautiful that cover is?! Anyway I digress.
Everyone on the booktube was talking about the sequel to this (which came out earlier this month) and I was like oh yeah, why haven't I read that yet?!
An exotic retelling (for those who don't know, this is a retelling of Arabian Nights) should make the perfect summer read!

5. Etiquette & Espionage (Finishing School #1)// Gail Carriger

Summer is all about the lighter side of things, but fantasy is year round!
I have recently been very much enjoying (and am nearly finished) the Parasol Protectorate series by the same author, which is a fun, steampunk fantasy light series, so I'm looking forward to trying out the first in the (sort of) prequel series set in the same world.
I've been listening to these on audiobook (which are fantastic), and I'm planning to do the same with this series, so I'm hoping they live up to their predecessors.

If you have read any of these, please let me know which one you think I should read first!

I'd also love to know what your Top 5 Summer Reads choices are, so leave your answers below, or if you've done this weeks, link me up below!

    1. I noticed that when I went through everyones! I think her books are just really summery, I think they're all actually based in the summer too!
