Reading Wrap Up July 2016!

Hi lovelies,

Today I would like to share with you what I read in the month of July!

This month was not a particularly successful reading month. Although I apparently read some good books so maybe that's OK? I realised the other day that I haven't yet read a 5 star novel this year yet, which makes me really sad! Maybe I should be less harsh! Anyway, let's get on with it!

This month I read...

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer - 4.5/5 - adult contemporary
Black Magick, Volume 1 by Greg Rucka*** - 4/5 - crime/paranormal
Saga, Volume 6 by Brian K. Vaughn - 5/5 - sci-fi/fantasy
Summer Days and Summer Nights edited by Stephanie Perkins - 4/5 - mixed genre anthology
The Vision Volume 1: Little Worse Than a Man by Tom King - 4/5 - science fiction
The Vegetarian by Han Jang - 2/5 - literary fiction
Doctor Strange Volume 1: The Ways of the Weird by Jason Aaron - 4/5 - science fiction/fantasy
The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutkoski - 3/5 - YA Fantasy

*listened to on audiobook
**read in e-book format
***provided for review

My favourite read this month was...

Definitely Saga Volume 6. I was so worried about this as volume 5 was so disappointing but I absolutely loved this! The ending of this volume was just...GAAAAHHHH!!!

My least favourite read this month was...

The Vegetarian, easily. I have a lot to say about this so I probably going to review it, I really didn't "hate it" but it left me pretty uncomfortable, and not in a way that was resolved.

My most surprisingly good/bad read this month was...

I would have say Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close but I was expecting it to be good, so I can't. So my answer for this is definitely Summer Days and Summer Nights, it's my first short story collection I really loved. It's another one I'm considering doing a full review for so I can review each story. It was a lot of fun!
I also was really surprised with how much I enjoyed Black Magick, I'll definitely be picking up the second volume!

What was your favourite read this month? Let me know if you'd like to see a full review of any of the books I've read this month below!

  1. catalog of songs for a set that was short on conversation but long on great sounds. Smoking Loon were a solid acoustic opener, and it will be interesting to see what they do next. suarwood dining table
