Podcasts are one thing that I have never been able to get into, until I started working from home. They really cut down on the isolation I can sometimes feel from being home alone all day.
I don't know a lot of people who listen to podcasts, so it has been tricky finding ones I might like. The itunes have a weird way of promoting podcasts (I believe it's down to how many people leave a rating, which sucks!) so I have done a lot of my own research, and I'm trying new ones pretty regularly so I thought I would share the ace ones I find with you lovely lot! Just in case any of you are in the same position!
Heads up, as in life, I like my podcasts with feminism, diversity and preferably women, so if that's not your jam then my recommendations are probably not for you!
The first podcast I've recently became a massive fan of is Another Round. Another Round features two amazing black women talking about life and doing interviews with amazing guests such as Janet Mock, Amanda Nyugen and Jordan Peele.
These fantastic women will having you literally laughing out loud, while opening your eyes to some really awful shit going on in the world, and how you can do better!
The episodes are all brilliant but my personal favourite (so far) is probably the one featuring Janet Mock's interview.
If you follow me on any social media, you will know by now that I am obsessed with Harry Potter. I always have been, and apparently I am one of many (who knew?!). What's better than just enjoying one of your favourite things though? That's right, calling out its flaws and pointing out what it got right, what it go wrong, and where it could have done so much better.
The Witch, Please podcast is all this and more, featuring two feminist Canadian babes, who I quite frankly want to marry at this point.
I have listened to all the episodes repeatedly at this point, and while it's hard to pin down a favourite I think if I had to, it would undoubtedly go to the Harry Potter and the Teen Sex Romparoo episode. I can't explain it better than these babes, so please just check it out.
Since I'm always on the look out for recommendations, if you have any podcasts that fit my excellent criteria (or even if they don't), please let me know because I'd love to check them out and rain my judgement down on them. Who knows you might see it in a future Brilliant Podcasts post!
